A crash between a van and a train has claimed the life of a 55-year-old Manitoba man.

The victim, from the RM of North Cypress-Langford, was travelling northbound on Road 69 North about eight kilometres northwest of Austin on June 20 when the crash occurred.

RCMP say the van was struck by an eastbound CN train as the vehicle approached the crossing.

The driver was pronounced deceased at the scene. Alcohol isn’t a factor in the collision, according to police.

Portage la Prairie RCMP and CN police continue to investigate.
