What’s Open and Closed on Canada Day in Winnipeg

As the country celebrates Canada’s 152nd birthday this weekend, here is a list of what’s open, closed or operating on a reduced schedule in Winnipeg on Monday, July 1.

Shopping Centres

Kildonan Place — Closed
Grant Park — Closed
Outlet Collection Winnipeg — Closed
St. Vital Centre — Closed
Polo Park — Closed

Manitoba Liquor Marts

Most Winnipeg Liquor Marts are open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Canada Day, except for those located in grocery stores, as well as the Cityplace location, which will remain closed. Many Liquor Marts are operating on extended hours Friday through Sunday. For specific times, visit LiquorMarts.ca/hours.

Civic Offices

All City of Winnipeg civic offices will be closed on Monday, July 1.

Recycling/Garbage Collection

Recycling, garbage and yard waste will be collected as normally scheduled on the Canada Day holiday for those with Monday as their collection day.

Brady Road Landfill hours of operation (commercial customers only)
Saturday, June 29 — 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Sunday, June 30 — 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Monday, July 1 — 5:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Brady 4R Winnipeg Depot hours of operation (residential customers only)
Saturday, June 29 — 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Sunday, June 30 — 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Monday, July 1 — 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Pacific 4R Winnipeg Depot hours of operation (residential customers only)
Saturday, June 29 — 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Sunday, June 30 — 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Monday, July 1 –Closed

Panet 4R Winnipeg Depot hours of operation (residential customers only)
Saturday, June 29 — 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Sunday, June 30 — 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Monday, July 1 — Closed

Winnipeg Transit

On Monday, July 1, Winnipeg Transit will operate on a Sunday schedule.

Special Canada Day service includes:

FREE Canada Day Shuttle service linking The Forks and Osborne Village, operating from noon until 12 a.m.

Extra Route 11 Portage buses operating between The Forks and Assiniboine Park from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. Regular transit fares apply.

Post-Fireworks departures:

The Forks: buses will be available on Main Street between York Avenue and Graham Avenue.

Leisure Centres

All Leisure Centres are closed on Monday, July 1.

Libraries

All Winnipeg Public Library branches will be closed on Monday, July 1.

Swimming Pools

Indoor Pools
All City of Winnipeg indoor swimming pools will be closed on Monday, July 1.

Outdoor Pools
Weather permitting, all City of Winnipeg outdoor pools will be open Monday, July 1. Operating hours vary by pool.

Wading Pools
Weather permitting; the following 6 wading pools will be open on Monday, July 1:

Central Park
Dakota Park
Machray Park
Shaughnessy Park
West Kildonan Memorial CC
Westdale

The remaining locations will open Tuesday, July 2, according to their operating schedules. Operating hours vary by wading pool; however, most are open from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Spray Pads
Spray pads will be open on Monday, July 1 from 9:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Animal Services Agency

The Animal Services Agency will be closed on Monday, July 1.

Cemeteries

Cemetery grounds at Brookside, St. Vital and Transcona Cemeteries will be open for visitation from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Canada Day.

Cemetery offices will be closed on Monday, July 1.

Winnipeg Parking Authority

The Winnipeg Parking Authority will be closed on Monday, July 1.

Golf Courses

All Municipal Golf Courses will be open on Canada Day from dawn to dusk, 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
