Project Return Finds Eight Missing, At-Risk Youths

Winnipeg Police Logo CrestA one-day blitz by Winnipeg police and partner agencies to find the 74 reported missing, at-risk youths in Winnipeg, brought back eight children on June 28.

Project Return was organized with the help of outreach workers from the community, such as StreetReach, Winnipeg Outreach Network, All Nations Coordinated Response, and the Bear Clan Patrol.

Twenty-eight locations known to be frequented by high-risk missing youths were checked. The project also made 18 crime prevention through social development contacts to identify and assist those involved in sexual exploitation.

Police say on average, 600 missing persons reports are received monthly. In 2018, 7,361 people were reported missing.
