Red River Co-op is expanding its grocery offerings in Gimli by taking over Super A Foods.

The company purchased the location from existing owners Kevin and Cheryl St. Martin, who are retiring after running the store for 21 years.

“Red River Co-op serves Gimli with fuel through our gas bar at 83 Centre St. and opening a food store in town was driven by a desire to add an additional service to our members,” said Red River Co-op CEO Doug Wiebe.

“Because of Red River Co-op’s strong market performance and solid financial base, now is the perfect time to expand our food business with the support of our new employees.”

The new store will open Monday, July 8 with a complimentary community BBQ. Full branding elements will transition in the coming weeks.
