Thirty people were forced from an apartment on Portage Avenue Sunday morning due to severe flooding.

Firefighters were called to the 1000 block just after 5:30 a.m., but were unable to shut off water to the building. Staff from the city’s Water and Waste Department were also called in, and later requested help from Manitoba Hydro as the water level was threatening an electrical supply.

The residents were relocated with the help of Winnipeg Transit. No injuries were reported.
