The Winnipeg Goldeyes signed left-handed pitcher Justin Kamplain on Saturday.
The 26-year-old was drafted by the New York Yankees in the 14th round in 2014 out of the University of Alabama.
Kamplain was a combined 3-2 with one save and a 4.59 ERA in 32 relief appearances last season at two levels of the Yankees’ organization. He combined for 78 strikeouts in 66.2 innings (9.9 strikeouts per nine innings) for the Double-A Eastern League’s Trenton Thunder and the High-A Florida State League’s Tampa Tarpons.
In a separate move, the Goldeyes released right-handed pitcher Marcus Crescentini on Friday.
The Goldeyes return home on Wednesday, July 24 when they host the Texas AirHogs at Shaw Park.
