Passenger traffic increased modestly in the second quarter of 2019 at Winnipeg Richardson International Airport.
Winnipeg Airports Authority reported a 1.9 percent increase over the same period in 2018. May saw the greatest increase of passengers making their way through the air terminal building, up 4.1 percent over the same period in 2018 to more than 1.1 million travellers.
Consolidated revenue for WAA was $33.5 million compared to $32.6 million for the same period in 2018.
“These results reflect a strong demand for air travel in this region,” said Barry Rempel, president and CEO of WAA.
On the cargo side of the airport’s operations, the second quarter saw a 4.5 percent increase in gross takeoff weight for cargo aircraft as compared to the second quarter of 2018.
“Sustainable growth in passenger and cargo traffic demonstrates that WAA’s plan is working.”
