A joint effort by Winnipeg and Brandon police has ended with the arrest of 20 men as part of Project Beckon.
The sexual exploitation investigation focused on the well-being of those involved in the sex trade and targeted those who purchase sex from vulnerable individuals.
Police made the arrests July 26-27 and charged each person with obtained sexual services for consideration. They also seized 15 vehicles as part of the investigation.
“Sexual exploitation is not bound by jurisdictions. Victims do not choose this lifestyle or the harm inflicted upon them as a result. Those vulnerable to sexual exploitation are transient,” a news release said.
All 20 individuals have been released on a promise to appear.
