WINNIPEG — Manitoba’s Progressive Conservative Party vowed Thursday to eliminate PST on tax preparation services, if re-elected.
PC leader Brian Pallister says the cut would save Manitobans about $3 million annually.
“The NDP added insult to injury with this new tax,” said Pallister.
“The NDP loved taxes so much, they thought you should pay extra for the privilege of paying them by charging the PST on tax preparation services.
“Unlike the NDP, we believe taxes are high enough without having to pay taxes when you pay your taxes.”
The PCs have previously announced to eliminate the provincial sales tax on home insurance, salon services and haircuts over $50 and on wills, combined with the elimination of probate fees.
Manitobans head to the polls on September 10.
