Winnipeg firefighters fought a blaze Thursday morning at the Emterra Environmental facility on Henry Avenue.
Crews responded to an automatic alarm at around 8:20 a.m. and found heavy smoke coming from a rubbish fire, which was making its way to a neighbouring structure through an elevated conveyor belt.
The blaze was safely contained by around 9:12 a.m.
The city says all staff had self-evacuated and no injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation and no damage estimates are available.
Recycling processing at the plant will be delayed, but there are no delays to the collection schedule and residents should continue to put their bins out.
