Two children were killed Friday night in a two-vehicle collision just north of Dauphin.

Manitoba RCMP say a Ford F-150 was travelling east on Road 147 at around 8 p.m. when it went through the intersection at PR 362 and Road 147 North. The vehicle collided with the side of a northbound Dodge Ram. Both vehicles were significantly damaged in the crash.

Two girls, ages four and six, were pulled from the Dodge Ram and taken to hospital in critical condition. They both later died from their injuries in hospital.

Two other people in the Ram — a 30-year-old Dauphin woman and another woman — suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Two 24-year-old men from Dauphin in the F-150 sustained serious injuries. One of them was later taken to Winnipeg in unstable condition with life-threatening injuries.

Police are working to determine if alcohol was a factor in the collision.
