Alcohol is believed to be a factor in a fatal single-vehicle crash near Fisher River Cree Nation last Friday.

A 52-year-old man from Dallas, Manitoba was driving along Jackhead Road at around 6:35 a.m. when his SUV failed to stop at the intersection of Provincial Road 224 and hit the ditch.

RCMP say the vehicle struck an embankment and the driver was pronounced deceased on scene. He wasn’t wearing a seatbelt.

Fisher Branch RCMP continue to investigate.
