A 25-year-old man is facing a list of charges after a violent domestic assault inside a Brandon home on Monday evening.

Police responded after a woman was hit in the face by the suspect. They arrived to find the man holding a knife.

Police say the incident began when the man threw households objects at the victim, striking her in the back and face. She tried to call for help, but the suspect took her phone, poured water on it and threw it on the ground. The same suspect then attempted to slash the victim’s tires with a knife, but was locked outside by the woman as she retreated to safety.

The suspect then removed an air conditioner unit from a window and climbed inside to further attack the victim. She was grabbed by the neck until police arrived and made an arrest.

The man will be appearing in Brandon court today and faces charges of assault, assault with a weapon, mischief to property, break and enter to commit assault, choking to overcome resistance and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
