WINNIPEG — Four people are in police custody after a fight involving bear spray and a CO2 gun.
Police and the K-9 unit were called to the 500 block of Magnus Avenue on Monday afternoon for a report of several people fighting.
Officers learned that one man had entered a nearby home and sprayed another man with bear spray. The victim then grabbed his own can of bear spray and returned fire within the residence. The two continued to spray each other until one man took out a CO2 gun and fired multiple rounds at the other person, striking him in the lower body. The victim wasn’t seriously hurt and declined medical attention.
Another round of fire from the gun shattered a nearby vehicle’s window.
Damon Charles Shabaquay, 21, Brandon Dean Woodhouse, 21, Charles Clayton Shabaquay, 45, and a 16-year-old girl were all arrested and face numerous charges.
Police also seized a sawed-off bolt action rifle from the home’s garage.
All four suspects are from Winnipeg and remain in custody.
