A suspicious vehicle that caught the eye of Winnipeg police ended with a dangerous chase through city streets on Monday.
Police spotted the vehicle in the area of Arlington Street and William Avenue at around 2:35 a.m. and began following it. Computer checks found the licence plate didn’t match the registered car and it also wasn’t insured.
The driver sped up and fled from police once officers tried to pull it over. The driver dangerously sped through red lights and stop signs in residential areas while being tracked by Air 1. Police put out a stop stick in an attempt to slow the vehicle, but the suspect drove around the device.
The vehicle eventually stopped in the first 100 block of Tyndall Avenue and the driver fled on foot. He was quickly taken into custody.
Kyle Bradley Doerksen of Winnipeg, 22, was on parole at the time and faces several charges. He was also ticketed for failing to signal a turn.
