WINNIPEG — Ten people were displaced from a rooming house Monday evening after a fire broke out in the 400 block of William Avenue.

Winnipeg firefighters responded to the blaze shortly after 6 p.m. to the two and a half storey home. Crews were met with flames involving the two upper floors of the structure. Conditions worsened and forced firefighters to fight defensively from outside.

All occupants were able to make it out safely, according to the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service. One person was assessed by paramedics, but didn’t require hospitalization.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation and no damage estimate is available.
