Child Breaks Free from Attempted Abduction in Transcona

Winnipeg Police Logo CrestA 10-year-old girl was able to break free from an attempted abduction in Transcona on Wednesday afternoon.

Police say the girl was in a strip mall in the area of Kildare Avenue East and Wayota Street at around 12:20 p.m. when two men approached her. They tried to force her into a vehicle, but she managed to escape.

The man who grabbed her is described as black, approximately 16-years-old, tall with an average build and had been wearing a red or maroon sweater with a stripe. The other man is described as Indigenous or black with no further description. The vehicle has been described as a black or blue sport utility vehicle or truck.

Winnipeg police are continuing to investigate.
