Winnipeg police have made an arrest after several seniors were bilked out of funds while their own credit and debit cards were used.
Police say the suspect would observe seniors entering their personal identification number at retail establishments. The shoppers were then followed out of the store and distracted while their wallets or purses were stolen. Once the cards were obtained from inside, money was withdrawn and fraudulent purchases made.
Three separate incidents took place between July 31 and August 7.
Elvis Stoian, 42, was arrested on Tuesday. He faces several charges and remains in custody.
