A 13-year-old Manitoba boy has been arrested after a man was struck with an axe during a fight in Thompson on Wednesday evening.

Police say they were called to Churchill Drive at around 7:30 p.m. and found several bystanders holding the suspect for officers.

They say a 58-year-old man was hit with the axe and taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The teen will be charged with assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

RCMP continue to investigate.
