A crash near Oakville, Manitoba has claimed the life of a 68-year-old Portage la Prairie man.

The two-vehicle collision happened Thursday morning shortly after 8 a.m. when a vehicle heading east on Provincial Road 331 failed to stop at the intersection with Highway 13. The vehicle was hit by a northbound semi-trailer truck.

The driver of the first vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene. RCMP say the man was wearing a seatbelt at the time.

The 48-year-old Carberry man driving the semi suffered non-life threatening injuries and was taken to hospital.

Portage la Prairie RCMP continue to investigate.
