The Winnipeg Ice got their regular WHL season off to a winning start Friday in Brandon, overtaking the rival Wheat Kings 3-2 at Westoba Place.
Ice forward Michal Teply and defenceman Carson Lambos each recorded two points, while Teply was credited with one of three goals.
Ice forwards Isaac Johnson and Connor McClennon found the net to light up the lamp twice more for Winnipeg.
The Wheat Kings registered goals from Vincent Iorio and Zach Wytinck.
The Winnipeg Ice host their home opener tonight at the Wayne Fleming Arena (University of Manitoba). Puck drop against the visiting Wheat Kings is at 7:30 p.m. An inaugural home opener pre-party begins at 5 p.m. in the James Daly Fieldhouse next door.
