A Winnipeg firefighter was hit by a power line while tending to a blaze in the 200 block of Powers Street early Monday.
The two-storey, multi-family home was well-involved when crews arrived at 1:30 a.m. The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service says a significant amount of smoke and flames were coming from the home, but it was deemed under control by shortly after 2 a.m.
Everyone inside the home made it out safely before crews arrived.
During the blaze, an activated power line fell on a fire engine, which also struck a firefighter. Another firefighter was assessed on scene after falling ill, but no injuries were reported. Manitoba Hydro attended to remove the charged line.
The cause of the fire is under investigation and no damage estimates are available.
