Winnipeg police have arrested a man more than four months after a hit and run crash sent a female pedestrian to hospital in critical condition.
The crash on May 15 happened in the 1500 block of Portage Avenue at around 11:25 p.m.
After stepping onto the roadway, the woman in her 30s was hit by an eastbound vehicle. She was later upgraded to stable condition in hospital.
The driver turned himself in the next day after flagging down a police cruiser in the area of Garry Street and St. Mary Avenue. The vehicle believed to have been involved was later located in the Fairfield Park area.
The 21-year-old man was arrested and charged on Monday with failing to stop at the scene of an accident causing bodily harm. He was released on a promise to appear.
