Nuit Blanche and road construction will close a number of downtown Winnipeg streets this weekend.
Southbound Memorial Boulevard will be reduced to one lane from Portage Avenue to St. Mary Avenue beginning Saturday, and will be closed completely between St. Mary and York avenues. Traffic will still be able to move southbound by transitioning onto Osborne Street.
Other downtown closures:
- Westbound St. Mary Avenue from Vaughan Street to Memorial Boulevard will be completely closed to traffic.
- Northbound Osborne Street will be reduced to one lane from York Avenue to St. Mary Avenue throughout the majority of the weekend, and will be completely closed for approximately 2-4 hours on Sunday. Northbound traffic will be rerouted down York Avenue.
The closures will be in effect from 7 a.m. Saturday, September 28 through 7 p.m. Sunday, September 29.
For Nuit Blanche, northbound King Street between Bannatyne Avenue and William Avenue will be closed to vehicles from Saturday at 4 p.m. until Sunday at 2 a.m. Pedestrian access will be maintained, and area businesses will not be affected by the closure.
Motorists should allow additional travel time to get to their destinations and use alternate routes.
