A 27-year-old man has died following his arrest by Winnipeg police.
The Independent Investigation Unit was notified Tuesday of the incident, which occurred on September 23.
Police were responding to a well-being call near Assiniboine Avenue and Kennedy Street at around 12:42 a.m. after reports of a man who appeared confused and was yelling.
The man was located on the riverbank and confronted police, who had to use force to take him into custody. The suspect became unresponsive and was taken to St. Boniface Hospital in critical condition. He was later listed in stable condition, but died on Monday.
