A Brandon man is facing assault and weapons charges after a dispute with his girlfriend over the weekend.
Brandon police were called to an apartment building in the city’s west end at around 8:40 a.m. Saturday. They say a 21-year-old man choked his girlfriend during an argument and then threatened to kill her with a loaded crossbow. He later pointed it at the wall and fired a shot.
Officers found the man to be intoxicated and held him in custody until he was sober. He has been charged with assault, assault with a weapon, uttering threats to cause death, and possession of a dangerous weapon.
He was released to appear in court in December.
