Two Arrested After Man Shot During Maples Home Invasion

Winnipeg Police Logo CrestWinnipeg police have charged two people and seized several firearms following a home invasion last weekend.

Officers responded to a report of gunshots in the 400 block of Adsum Drive on the night of October 12. Residents reported seeing a number of people enter the home before gunfire broke out.

Police located a 19-year-old unconscious man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to hospital in critical condition and later upgraded to stable.

Two suspects were arrested on Monday at separate homes in the Maples area of the city. One of the suspects was wearing two sets of body armour at the time of his arrest.

Jaycee Ryan Danielson of Winnipeg, 18, and James Cole Richard of Lake St. Martin, 24, have been arrested and charged with multiple offences.

Police executed two search warrants as part of their investigation and seized nine firearms (including shotguns and rifles) and 1,200 rounds of ammunition.

Both men remain in custody.
