WINNIPEG — An arcing power line lit up the night sky Tuesday and sent social media into a frenzy over the unusual sight.
Winnipeg firefighters responded to a downed line near in the 200 block of Oakland Avenue just before 9 p.m. Crews encountered significant electricity coming from the power line near Devon Avenue and Roch Street.
Manitoba Hydro attended the scene and eventually cut power to the line.
The city says nearby homes on Devon Avenue, Roch Street, and Oakland Avenue were evacuated as a precautionary measure. Those evacuated have since returned to their homes. No injuries were reported.
