WINNIPEG — As temperatures prepare to plummet for the season, Lighthouse Mission is thankful for a new boiler to restore heat to its building.
The mission recently appealed to Winnipeggers for help in covering the cost of a new boiler, which is estimated to cost between $45,000 and $58,000.
“The generosity of Manitobans has been seen here in the last 24 hours beyond what we could have imagined,” said operations manager Beverly Ajtay.
“We are honestly in awe of the generosity of Winnipeggers, we have received the funds to fully cover the cost. We are extremely grateful to everyone who has been a part of responding to this need.”
Any additional funds received will go towards food and providing meals and services to the community Lighthouse Mission serves. About 11,000 meals are served each month to hundreds of local vulnerable citizens.
