The University of Winnipeg Wesmen have signed volleyball setter Breanne Bazin for the 2020 season.

The Leo – Remillard School Center product is the first student-athlete committed to the team’s roster for next season.

“I’ve benefitted greatly from (Wesmen coach) Phil Hudson‘s volleyball camps in the past and I’ve improved so much and he helped me a lot in getting to where I am today,” Bazin said in a release. “I’m super-excited to be able to work with him in the future and improve more with him as well.

The 5’11” Bazin plays club volleyball with the Junior Bisons, but made the decision to commit to the Wesmen after having been coached by Hudson in camps throughout her youth.

“This university has always been great for academics as well and I always thought this would be a great university for me to attend. And especially with the coach — I decided this was the best fit for me.”

Bazin arrives to bolster the Wesmen’s setter squad after fifth-year senior Rylie Dickson graduates after this season, leaving sophomore Mikaela Cameron the lone setter on the roster.

Bazin will enroll in the Faculty of Kinesiology and have five years of eligibility
