Dufresne has a storied history with the Bisons spanning three decades. She spent 17 years as a coach and 15 as athletic director — retiring from the administrator position in August 2016.
Dufresne enters the Hall for her time as a Bison women’s basketball coach (1984 to 2001). During her tenure with Manitoba, she led the program to three national titles in 1988, 1996 and 1997.
Prior to running the sidelines, Dufresne was a player herself and 1976 Olympian for Canada.
The Halifax native also served as Canada West president from 2005-07, and in 2005 became the second Canadian elected to the FISU executive committee.
Dufresne joins women’s volleyball alum Michelle Sawatzky-Koop, women’s soccer alum Desiree Scott, the 1968-70 Vanier Cup-winning Bisons football teams, and football alum Israel Idonije as Bisons that have been inducted into the Canada West Hall of Fame.
