WINNIPEG — The new Women’s Hospital at Health Sciences Centre will concentrate health services dispersed across the HSC campus when it opens.
The province announced Thursday the state-of-the-art hospital will serve women, children and families beginning December 1, through the new, larger space at 665 William Avenue.
“This new facility will improve the patient experience for families from across the province,” said Health Minister Cameron Friesen.
“This building uses modern design standards that will improve work flow for staff, and privacy and comfort for patients and their families.”
The $233-million facility boasts 388,500-square-foot of space — three times larger than the current hospital. It will provide inpatient and outpatient obstetrical, surgical and medical services currently provided at the Women’s Pavilion at 735 Notre Dame Avenue.
Most of the hospital’s construction was completed in February 2019. Since then, the focus has shifted to installing and testing technical and clinical equipment, training staff and ensuring a smooth operation before the doors open.
