The Independent Investigation Unit has closed an investigation into alleged suspicious credit card transactions at the hand of a Selkirk RCMP officer.
In December 2018, Mounties contacted the IIU over allegations one of its traffic division officers was purchasing car washes for a personal vehicle with an RCMP-issued credit card at the Selkirk Co-op gas bar and car wash.
The IIU investigation revealed a number of deficiencies in the available evidence and concluded there were insufficient grounds to believe the officer had committed an offence.
The officer won’t be facing charges and the IIU referred the matter back to the RCMP.
