A man from Matlock, Manitoba was killed Wednesday when his van rear-ended a semi-trailer truck on Highway 1.

The two-vehicle collision happened at around 9:45 a.m. as the westbound semi was stopped, waiting to turn north onto Cabot Road in the RM of Cartier.

RCMP say the 55-year-old driver was pronounced deceased at the scene. The 21-year-old man driving the semi, from the RM of Springfield, wasn’t injured.

Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the collision.

Headingley RCMP continue to investigate.
