What’s Open and Closed on Remembrance Day in Winnipeg

Remembrance Day

Here’s what’s open, closed or operating on a reduced schedule in Winnipeg as Canada pauses to remember our veterans on Remembrance Day, Monday, November 11. To find a service near you, visit veterans.gc.ca.

Shopping Centres
Kildonan Place — 1-9 p.m.
Grant Park — 1-9 p.m.
Outlet Collection Winnipeg — 1-9 p.m.
Polo Park — 1-9 p.m.
St. Vital Centre — 1-9 p.m.

Manitoba Liquor Marts
Most Winnipeg Liquor Mart locations will be open on Remembrance Day from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m., except for cityplace, which will remain closed. For a complete list of hours, visit LiquorMarts.ca/hours.

Canadian Museum for Human Rights
The museum will be open from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Remembrance Day. On November 9, 10 and 11, free admission will be extended to veterans and to active serving members of the Canadian armed forces, including reservists and cadets, and their families (up to three guests). Veterans and active serving military members will also be offered $5 admission throughout the rest of November. The Tower of Hope will glow red from dusk on November 8 until the morning of November 12.

Assiniboine Park & Zoo
The Zoo and Pavilion are open from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on November 11. The Park Cafe is closed.

City of Winnipeg Civic Offices
All civic offices are closed on Monday, November 11, 2019.

Recycling/Garbage Collection
There will be no recycling, garbage and yard waste collection on Remembrance Day, Monday, November 11. Collection will be one day later for everyone for this week only.

Brady Road Landfill — Closed on Monday, November 11.
Brady 4R Winnipeg Depot (residential) — Closed (open Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.)
Pacific 4R Winnipeg Depot (residential) — Closed (open Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.)
Panet 4R Winnipeg Depot (residential) — Closed (open Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.)

Winnipeg Transit
To honour the men and women who have sacrificed for our country, Winnipeg Transit will be offering free transit service to veterans, current serving members of the Canadian Armed Forces, and a companion on Remembrance Day. Those who wish to use this free service may do so by wearing a military uniform, or by presenting military identification or CF1 card at the time of boarding.

On Monday, November 11, Winnipeg Transit will operate on a Sunday schedule.

Winnipeg Transit will be observing one minute of silence in honour of Remembrance Day. At 11 a.m., Transit operators will pull over and stop their buses at safe locations to recognize one minute of silence.

Also in honour of Remembrance Day, the bus route/destination signs will scroll with the message “Lest We Forget” in addition to the usual route information all day on November 11.

Libraries
All Winnipeg Public Library branches will be closed on Monday, November 11.

Leisure Centres
All Leisure Centres are closed on Monday, November 11.

Swimming Pools
All City of Winnipeg indoor swimming pools will be closed on Monday, November 11, with the exception of Pan Am Pool, Margaret Grant Pool and Cindy Klassen Recreation Complex.

On Monday, November 11, Pan Am Pool will be open from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., Margaret Grant Pool will be open from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and Cindy Klassen Recreation Complex will be open from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Animal Services Agency
The Animal Services Agency will be closed on Monday, November 11.

Cemeteries
Cemetery grounds at Brookside, St. Vital, and Transcona Cemeteries will be open for visitation from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. on, Monday, November 11.

Cemetery offices will be closed on Monday, November 11.

Winnipeg Parking Authority
The Winnipeg Parking Authority will be closed on Monday, November 11.
