Winnipeg police have upgraded charges against a suspect in the death of three-year-old Hunter Haze Straight-Smith.
The boy was sleeping when he was stabbed in the neck early October 30 at a home in the 300 block of Pritchard Avenue.
Police had originally charged Daniel Jensen, 33, with attempted murder, but have since upgraded those charges to second-degree murder.
The boy was put on life support following the attack and succumbed to his injuries on November 2.
Jensen was arrested last week and was also charged with assault on the young boy’s mother at a Main Street bar earlier that day.
Jensen was re-arrested Wednesday at the Winnipeg Remand Centre and remanded back into custody.
