Winnipeg isn’t officially putting up a Christmas tree at City Hall this year, so the next best thing could be at Polo Park.
The shopping centre is hoping to launch a new seasonal tradition when it lights up a brand new 26-foot-tall Christmas tree on Thursday.
“The inaugural celebration will feature live music from an electric violinist and an interactive tree lighting hosted by Manitoba native and Canadian Olympian, Jon Montgomery, along with local DJ, Zack Daniels, who will lead the countdown and light the Christmas tree,” the mall said in a release.
Winnipeggers are invited to CF Polo Park at 5 p.m. on November 14 to take in the festivities. The tree lighting event will take place from 6 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. in front of the former Sears store on the main level.
The Winnipeg tree lighting is one of five Cadillac Fairview is holding nationwide.
