WINNIPEG — Two men have been arrested and charged following three separate incidents, including a shooting.
A man was shot in the 300 block of William Newton Avenue on November 2 when three rounds were fired. One of the bullets struck the victim, sending him to hospital in unstable condition where he would later be upgraded to stable.
On November 9, a man who arranged online to sell his vehicle met with a potential buyer in the area of Sargent Avenue and Beverley Street. The man was pepper-sprayed and the suspect stole the vehicle he had been looking at.
In a third incident, police spotted a stolen vehicle in the area of Portage Avenue and Good Street on Tuesday. They followed it to Broadway and Langside Street where two police cruisers attempted to stop it. The driver of the vehicle rammed both cruisers and fled on foot with a passenger. While being pursued by police, the passenger pepper-sprayed officers. He and the driver made it a short distance before being apprehended and placed into custody. Both officers were taken to hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Mark Jaiantilla Galeos, 31, and Steven Andrew Mingo, 28, were arrested and face numerous charges. Galeos was identified as the shooting suspect, as well as the driver of the two stolen vehicles.
