A 30-year-old Manitoba man is in police custody after allegedly uttering threats towards police on a public social media account.

Serious online threats were discovered on November 13 and led Fisher Branch RCMP to immediately begin investigating. A suspect was identified, but officers couldn’t locate the man.

Officers patrolling the Fisher Branch area came upon a vehicle collision the next day on Tache Street. They identified one of the people involved to be the suspect they were looking for.

Police executed a search warrant on the man’s home, where they seized a rifle, ammunition, computers, cellphones and notebooks.

Brian Hrominchuk, from the RM of Fisher, was arrested on numerous charges, including weapons-related offences.

RCMP continue to investigate.
