Police Watchdog Investigating Man’s Injuries During Arrest

Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba - IIUManitoba’s police watchdog is investigating after a man suffered internal injuries during an arrest by RCMP.

The 24-year-old man was hospitalized November 23 after RCMP responded to a report of an impaired driver in eastern Manitoba. They located the suspect, but were required to use force during the arrest.

The man was placed in a cell and told officers he didn’t feel well. He was transported to the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg and found to have internal injuries.

The Independent Investigation Unit is looking into the arrest. Investigators are asking anyone who may have information or video footage to contact the IIU at 1-844-667-6060.
