Child Killed, Two Others Injured in Western Manitoba Fire

RCMP Crest Logo VehicleA house fire in McCreary, Manitoba has claimed the life of a five-year-old child.

The fire broke out Thursday at around 1:40 a.m. on 4th Avenue. Witnesses reported that the house was fully engulfed and people were trapped inside.

Community members, along with a 28-year-old woman inside the house, managed to rescue a three-year-old child. The woman was taken to hospital with serious injuries, while the child suffered non-life threatening injuries.

The five-year-old was pronounced deceased at the scene.

RCMP and the Office of the Fire Commissioner continue to investigate.
