An off-duty Manitoba RCMP officer is being credited with saving a man from a burning mobile home near Steinbach.
RCMP say Cpl. Mike Martens was driving in the RM of Hanover Thursday afternoon when he noticed flames coming from a mobile home on Clearspring Road.
He called 911 and then drove to the home to help. Martens noticed smoke billowing out of the window and movement in the porch. He found a man sitting on the floor leaning against the door. Martens pulled the man out of the home before it became fully engulfed in flames.
The 40-year-old victim was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. No one else was inside at the time.
The fire is under investigation by RCMP and the Office of the Fire Commissioner.
