A Brandon police officer is recovering after being stabbed in the head with a needle filled with an unknown substance.
Police were responding to a disturbance call in the 900 block of Queens Avenue Thursday evening when the first officer on scene could hear screaming coming from the home.
The officer entered and was confronted by a 25-year-old woman holding a hypodermic needle. She attacked the officer and stabbed him in the head with the needle, while stating she wanted to kill him. During the struggle, the suspect encouraged others inside the home to also kill the officer.
Additional police attended to the home and the woman was taken into custody.
The officer was treated in hospital and released with continued treatment for exposure to potentially hazardous fluids.
