WINNIPEG — Fifteen community centres owned by the city have received renovation grants totalling $1.15 million.
Funds were provided through the city’s Community Centre Renovation Grant program, which approved all 15 applications received in 2019.
“Community centres play an important role in building healthy communities, and it’s essential to keep them accessible, upgraded, and safe,” said Councillor Sherri Rollins, chairperson of the standing policy committee on protection, community services and parks.
“I’m proud to support this initiative that maintains our existing assets and helps strengthen communities.”
The community centres receiving grants are:
- Chalmers
- South Transcona
- Norberry-Glenlee
- South Winnipeg
- North Kildonan
- Sturgeon Heights
- Notre Dame
- Westdale
- Park City West
- Whyte RidgeRalph Brown
- Windsor
- Red River
- Woodhaven Park
- Riverview
Grants will be used to complete facility repairs, upgrades, retrofits, safety improvements, and renovation projects.
