A popular Winnipeg burger joint is closing down early next year.
Boon Burger announced Thursday it will be shutting its Winnipeg location on Sherbrook Street effective January 19, 2020.
“Boon has been a part of our lives for 10 wonderful years, but after a very long 22-year career as entrepreneurs in the restaurant business, we are feeling it’s a healthy decision for us as a family,” owners Anneen DuPlessis and Tomas Sohlberg said in an Instagram post.

Boon Burger says higher food costs, increased demand for delivery service, overall operating expenditures and an abundance of other vegan options in the city factored into the decision to move on.
“We have nothing but gratitude for all of you, we have met the greatest customers who have become part of our extended family!”
The restaurant chain, which opened in 2010, still has three other locations in Ontario.
