The Independent Investigation Unit is looking into the arrest of a man whose eye socket was fractured during his arrest.
The 39-year-old man suffered the injury December 19 when police were called to an Ellice Avenue location. They determined the man should be transported to hospital for medical attention, but while attempting to transport him, the man became belligerent.
The IIU says a struggle ensued and force needed to be used to arrest him. The man was taken to Health Sciences Centre and treated for a fractured orbital socket and admitted for observation.
Witnesses or anyone who may have information or video footage that may assist the investigation is asked to contact the IIU toll-free at 1-844-667-6060.
