WINNIPEG — Construction on the new Dublin Avenue Bridge at Omand’s Creek will begin on January 1.

The project replaces the nearly 70-year-old deteriorating wood and concrete bridge that has served the St. James industrial area since 1950.

Dublin Avenue, from Orange Street to Field Street, will be closed from 12 p.m. on January 1, 2020 through May 2020.

Local access to businesses on Dublin Avenue will be maintained via St. James Street in the area west of the closure, and via Notre Dame Avenue / Midland Street in the area east of the closure.

The city says the project includes pavement reconstruction of Dublin Avenue from St. James Street to Midland Street, and pavement rehabilitation of St. James Street from Saskatchewan Avenue to Notre Dame Avenue. Following the reopening of the bridge, work on surrounding roads will continue into September 2020.
