Winnipeg police are investigating the city’s first homicide of the year after a woman was found injured Friday evening.
Police were called to the Worthington neighbourhood for a report of suspicious circumstances just after 6 p.m. They soon located a woman in the first 100 block of Hindley Avenue and had her transferred to hospital in critical condition, where she succumbed to her injuries.
The victim has been identified as Reagan Danielle Gross, 49.
Police have charged Kodey Lionel Trudeau, 49, of Winnipeg, with second-degree murder. He remains in custody.
The homicide unit is continuing to investigate.
Winnipeg marked a record-breaking 44 homicides in 2019.
