Semi-Automatic Rifle Seized, Eight Charged After Brandon Standoff

BRANDON, Man. — Eight people were arrested Thursday after Brandon police raided a home and seized a number of weapons.

Officers obtained a search warrant for a home in the 300 block of 15th Street as part of a weapons investigation.

Police negotiators made contact with two people inside and they each exited peacefully at around 4:15 p.m.

Once inside, officers located a .22 semi-auto rifle, ammunition and a can of bear mace. Police also recovered a CO2 BB handgun after arresting and searching suspects in related to the home.

In total, police arrested four men, two women and two youths. All eight suspects face various weapons-related charges and will appear in court.
