The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have promoted quarterbacks coach Buck Pierce to offensive coordinator.

The team’s former quarterback (2010-2013) will continue in his existing role, while taking on the added duties left by Paul LaPolice, who held the position for four seasons (2016-2019) before being named the head coach of the Ottawa Redblacks late last year.

The 2020 season will be the seventh for Pierce as a member of the team’s coaching staff, including four years as the quarterbacks coach and two previously tutoring the running backs.

Pierce retired professionally in 2014 and spent nine seasons in the CFL with the Bombers and B.C. Lions. The Kansas native finished with 15,289 yards passing and 76 touchdowns in 130 games played.

The Blue Bombers also announced that Kevin Bourgoin will shift from running backs coach to receivers coach. Pete Costanza joins the coaching staff as the new running backs coach, and Marty Costello will remain in his role as the offensive line coach and will be heading into his fifth season with the team in 2020.
